What red-blooded American teenager hasn't dreamt the movie-star dream? The one filled with wealth, happiness and — above all — fame?

Well, for the teens attending the New York High School of Performing Arts, this isn't just a dream; this is hard work and passion. It's all that seems to really matter. The need for fame is life.

The film Fame follows 10 teenagers through the experience of a performing-arts high school, from the intimidating admissions process through the theatrical graduation. The characters have their own crafts to pursue, from filming to acting, dance to piano — and each is fully committed to their art and fame. Yet, typical high-school events most definitely play in.

The remake of the 1980s film is anything but boring, with an interesting enough mix of drama, excitement and music to keep an audience captivated. The acting was absolutely up to par, and the talent (beyond acting) is completely obvious, to say the least. The film kept with the classic, issue-oriented feel of 1980s movies.

As the movie itself said, "the purpose of acting is to make the audience believe what they're seeing" — and this story will make you believe.
