Five for Fighting's new album Slice has fallen right into the footsteps of the typical soft rock they are known and loved for. The album provides listeners with a nice combination of piano, guitar and light drums that make every track a relaxing one.

The song "Chances" is the automatic album favorite with nice soft vocals and a heavy emphasis on piano and drums. A close second favorite of mine is "Above the Timberline," which primarily focuses on inspiring lyrics with a nice calm guitar background. The album has some other good songs including "Slice and Augie Nieto" as well as a lot of average songs to fill in the album. These filler songs are not great, musically, nor lyrically.

The album is worth buying for those interested in a relaxing soft rock, heavy on piano and guitar tones overlapped with mild lyrics. It provides a nice relaxation album and its two best songs are definitely worth buying even on their own.
