The Albuquerque Isotopes found the two-out situation to their liking.

A fielding error by the Memphis Redbirds ignited a three-run flurry in the fifth inning for the Isotopes, who made it stand up in a 3-2 win in Pacific Coast League baseball in front of a crowd of 10,054 at Isotopes Park on Thursday.

And thanks to a 2-1 win by the Iowa Cubs over the Oklahoma City RedHawks, Albuquerque’s lead grew in the American South Division to 1 1/2 games over Oklahoma City.

The Redbirds held a 1-0 lead entering the bottom of the fifth, and looked to be out of the frame until third baseman Brett Wallace kicked Chin-lung Hu’s grounder to put runners at the corners. Blake DeWitt, Jamie Hoffmann and Jason Repko all followed with RBI singles for 3-1.

The cushion was just enough for the Isotopes pitching staff. Top prospect Josh Lindblom gave a commanding performance after being called up from Double-A Chattanooga (Tenn.).

In his first Triple-A start, the right-hander allowed a Nick Stavinoha solo home run — in the fourth — in six innings of work. Lindblom (1-0) surrendered three hits and three walks while striking out four batters.

On the other end was Redbirds starter Evan MacLane, who was not charged with an earned run but picked up the loss to fall to 3-8. He gave up eight hits and had two strikeouts.

Reliever Erick Threets gave uponly one hit over two innings, butScott Strickland labored to record his 15th save. Strickland gave up back-to-back hits to open the ninth, which led to a run, but he retired the last two batters to end the Memphis threat.

DeWitt, Hoffman, Repko and J.D. Closser each went 2-for-4, with the first three each picking up an RBI.
