From The Santa Fe New Mexican:July 18, 1908: Juan J. de Jaramillo and Elugio Jaramillo, farmers and sheep raisers in the vicinity of Vallecitos, Rio Arriba County, spent several days during the week in the city.
Harry C. Kinsell, who is now in the cattle raising business near Stanley and who was formerly sheriff of this county, was registered at the Claire today.
Abelino Garcia of Chamita, a farmer and sheep raiser, spent yesterday and today in the city on business. He is inspector for the Sheep Sanitary Board in his district.
July 18, 1958: United Nations, N.Y. — The United Arab Republic said today the United States had threatened it with direct action if U.S. Marines in Lebanon are attacked by troops under U.A.R. control.
July 18, 1983: A consultant to the state Corporation Commission and officials of Mountain Bell Telephone Co. disagree on how much it would cost ratepayers to subsidize the phone bills of certain elderly customers. To implement a proposed discount rate for certain elderly customers of Mountain Bell, other ratepayers would have their monthly bills raised by 2 cents. But that figure was disputed by a Mountain Bell official, who said the increase to ratepayers not eligible for the controversial program would be as high as 13 cents per month.
